The No-Cry Sleep Solution: Gentle Ways to Help Your Baby Sleep Through the Night

This book saved my sanity when my daughter was an infant. By the time she was 9 months old I was completely sleep deprived and feeling like I was ready for a padded cell. After reading the first few chapters, I began to implement the steps Elizabeth Pantley provides, and within just a few nights I began to see an improvement.

If you are a parent who refuses to let your baby “cry it out” then this book is for you.

The No-Cry Sleep Solution for Toddlers and Preschoolers

Although many of the principles are the same as what you will find in the first No Cry Sleep Solution book, there are several methods, tips and suggestions in this version that address the needs of a Toddler and Preschooler.

As your child grows and matures, new sleep issues arrive such as fears, illness, anxiety and a sense of independence. Elizabeth Pantley, in her non-judgmental and gentle manner, coaches you through the various situations you may face.

The No-Cry Potty Training Solution: Gentle Ways to Help Your Child Say Good-Bye to Diapers

Obviously, I am a fan of Elizabeth Pantley…My daughter was daytime potty trained before her 2nd birthday, was dry through nap time shortly there after and is only occasionally wet after a full 12 hours of sleep and she will be 3 this coming June.

She has developed a strong sense of independence and confidence, so much so, that she needs little assistance using the bathroom and rarely has an accident. I attribute this to The No Cry Potty Training Solution.

The No-Cry Discipline Solution: Gentle Ways to Encourage Good Behavior Without Whining, Tantrums, and Tears

I purchased this book when Evalee was around 18 months old and started to turn from an agreeable little tike to an absolute, full blown terrible two. Being that Elizabeth Pantley never steered me wrong up until this point I thought I would stick with her approach.

Again, Pantley approach is very practical and without judgment or strict rules. She is very much about offering you scenarios and allowing you to find what is best for you and your child, recognizing that every child is very unique.

Rather then try to squash unpleasant behavior, Pantley’s approach is more about looking at the “why”. Why is your child behaving that way? Is she/he hungry, tired, over stimulated, bored or in pain? Address the real reason behind the behavior, not the behavior itself.

The Baby Book: Everything You Need to Know About Your Baby from Birth to Age Two (Revised and Updated Edition)

I consider The Baby Book by Dr. Sears to be the ultimate resource for new parents who want to practice natural, attachment style parenting. It covers everything from natural birth and birth plans all the way to what to feed your fussy two year old.

I referred to this book on a daily basis when Evalee was an infant and I use it to this day to create articles for this site. It will be a main stay on our book shelf for years to come.

Bountiful, Beautiful, Blissful: Experience the Natural Power of Pregnancy and Birth with Kundalini Yoga and Meditation

A very dear friend gave me this book as a gift when she found out I was pregnant and I loved it. It has such a positive and loving tone and encourages women to embrace their bodies as they change throughout pregnancy.

This makes a great baby shower gift for moms open to things like yoga and meditation.

The Woman’s Book of Yoga and Health: A Lifelong Guide to Wellness

This is my personal “bible” of health and wellness. I love this book and refer to it often. Bottom line, if you are a woman and recognize the importance of yoga and overall health then you will appreciate this book.

There are yoga flows for each stage of life from child bearing years straight through to menopause.
