I have always been passionate about our planet and its delicate balance that so many seem to take for granted. But, when I became a mom in June of ’06, that passion took on a whole new meaning.
The choices I make today are not only going to affect the environment but those choices will have a direct impact on my daughter and son’s future. This site is dedicated to those of us who want to make the right choices now in order to give our children the opportunity to have some choices in the future.
Every small step to “be green” and reduce our carbon footprint counts. It can be as simple as a small compost bin in your backyard or as complex as solar panels on your roof. I know I can only do so much and it is not as much as I would like to, but that does not stop me from trying.
I have high hopes for our home to some day be super energy efficient, to have on demand hot water, solar panels on our roof and a hybrid car in the garage. For now I’ll consume with a conscience, cloth diaper my baby, support local farmers and choose organic whenever I can.
I can only hope that these values will be passed on to my children, that they will see the efforts their father and I have made to contribute to the health of our planet and will adopt these philosophies themselves, possibly improve upon them.
So I ask you: What small effort did you make today?

Thanks for starting this blog LadyBug. This is a topic that is near and dear to me and my family. I remember the cloth diapers especially, and how it was a labor of love to keep using them when life got busy. More power to ya, I look forward to more great posts like this one.
