2 Days in preschool and already has a cold!
Evalee officially started pre-school the past Wednesday and by Friday she had a runny nose and was running a mild fever. She has one cold in her two years and that was over a year ago when she was 9 months old. The school claims to have a strict sick policy but apparently not strict enough.
When we visited the school the previous week I noticed a little boy with runny nose but chalked it up to allergies because he seemed pretty happy otherwise. Now I know he was sick because this little boy is in Evalee’s classroom.
So my question for you is this: Do I talk to the director about the policy, pull her out of the school all together or look at it as a way to build her immune system?
She really has a wonderful time when she is there and overall it is a lovely facility with a great staff. My main reason for putting into a program like this was to allow her to develop her peer social skills and introduce some structure similar to what she will experience when she starts kindergarten.
I spoke with my folks about it (her over bearing, infatuated grand parents) and they brought up the point about building her immune system and getting things like chicken pox out of the way when she is younger and can bounce back faster. Which is a valid point.
I am conflicted for sure. Has any of you had any experience with this? If so please leave your comments below. I think this could be a topic of great discussion for other parents.
